Ruth Hamill came from humble beginnings. Her family was very dysfunctional with a mentally ill dad, a burned and scarred sister, a depressed sister, and a harsh and legalistic mother. She was exposed to abuse as a young girl and was molested by a relative. As a result, Ruth became a very introverted child. Shame became part of her foundation. At the young age of 6, she committed her life to Jesus which gave her one stable thing in her life. While shame and inferiority still claimed her, she had a strong trust in God and a call on her life.
Ruth went to Northwest College in Kirkland for 2 years, then drove to central Mexico, where she ministered in an orphanage for 6 months. She always loved adventure and felt a call to the world. She met and married the man whom she thought would be her forever love, had two children, and then went through a very dark time and divorce. As a single mom, she moved from Seattle to Spokane, where she finished college, getting degrees in counseling, studio art, and education. She was a teacher for 12 years. In 1992 she met the love of her life, Steve Hamill, to whom she has been married for 26 years. Ruth began to search for health: spiritually, emotionally, and physically. God took her on a journey of healing for the wounds she had and brought her out, leaving the shame, self-hate, and fear behind. She and Steve adopted their infant twin grandchildren, who are now 18, and also are raising their granddaughter Chloe.
After moving to Bethel Church in Redding, CA in 2010 for Steve to attend ministry school, she and her family went to Tanzania for one year to start an international school, preschool through 8th grade.
Ruth and her husband founded a Bethel “Action Boomers” life group that now has over 200 members, and Ruth has a writers’ guild. Ruth now enjoys traveling, ministering when opportunities arise, speaking about healing for wounded spirits, writing, quilting, gardening, creating, hiking, biking, kayaking, and much more.
Ruth has a passion to see people healed from emotional scars and living a life of victorious overcomers.
